DIY Headache Oil

Whether you have a post-holiday headache, hangover, or chronic headaches, Aromatherapy can help ease your symptoms.

One of the best ways to do this is to make a headache oil, put it into a roller or dropper bottle, and use it topically on the forehead, temples, behind ears, or neck. You can apply it directly where you are feeling pain. You can also inhale from the bottle or put a few drops on a tissue to inhale.

If you have already talked to your healthcare provider and have determined what type of headache you are getting, then you can learn which Essential oils to use to target them. Peppermint and Rosemary have analgesic properties to ease pain. Lavender contains anxiolytic and soothes the nervous system, making it a great choice for headaches brought on by stress, such as tension and migraine. Eucalyptus is a go to for a sinus headache.

To make a headache oil, blend 1-3% Essential oils with 97-99% Carrier oils. You can use this chart to help you dilute with percentages.

For example, if you have a 10mg roller bottle, for a 1% dilution, add ten drops of essential oils.

I recommend beginning with 1% and experimenting with the strength you need.
