Summer Skincare Tips

A long weekend is upon us and summer is in full swing!

Before you head to the BBQs & beaches, double-check that you’ve packed your self-care essentials, & remember skincare is self-care, so nurture the skin you’re in & check out these summer skincare tips!

~Wear Sunscreen

SPF 30 and above works to protect your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays that damage skin cells, which can cause sunburn, aging & skin cancer.

~Drink lots of water

It’s important to up your water game during the summer. Our bodies are trying to cool down by sweating more, which causes dehydration. Drinking lots of water and consuming hydrating foods can not only prevent heat illness but keep your skin looking plump and hydrated.

~Cleanse & Tone

Cleansers should be gentle so as not to strip skin of its natural moisture&double cleanse in the evening to break down dirt, and makeup&sunscreen. Toners help cleanse, tighten & hydrate pores. Use face mists throughout the day, like rose water or green tea.

~Moisturize

It’s tempting to skip this step as our sweat glands are producing more oil, but even if your skin feels oily, it’s necessary, as it helps lock in moisture and creates a protective barrier against the elements. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer or gel.

~Exfoliate

Because we are producing more oil in our skin, we need to exfoliate to remove build-up and unclog our pores. Exfoliating helps smooth skin tone, prevents acne & boosts circulation & lymphatic drainage.

Look for these ingredients in your sunscreen, cleansers & moisturizers: Zinc Oxide, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid & Glycolic Acid & Alpha Hydroxy Acids.
